Moynihan Poultry

Moynihan poultry is hard to miss as it leads from the Princess Street market into the larger side of the market.
Supplying only chicken products here, it is one of the many chicken suppliers in the market.
Trading now for many years and passed on from one family member to another the stall has survived many difficult times.

One of the only stalls in the Market to sell Buttered Eggs, years ago before chilling units were available to all eggs were seasonal. They were plentiful during the milder months and became more expensive in winter months. Eggs were not consumed during lent so there were excessive amounts of eggs, one solution was to use local butter that woul be rubbed onto the egg. This process became known as buttering, and it was a very effective method of preserving the eggs for up to six months at a time. The eggs porous shell would absorb the melted butter and when hardened would create a seal keeping the egg airtight and fresh until used. Buttered eggs can only be purchased at Moynihan Poultry Stall in the market.

Supplying not only the local trade as well as Restaurants in the town, they supply what must be the best chicken in the market, the staff start early each day and prepare all the different cuts that come from the chicken.
As you would expect they also have fresh chicken and duck eggs for sale and are sold quite cheaply.
Something that is very important is the fact that they can trace the chicken to its orgins, thus they know that they are selling Irish chickens to their customers.
